About My Clients
I work with clients to break free from compulsive eating and exercise behaviors to manage their weight and body image. Together we identify the root of preoccupations with food, the next meal, counting the day's carbs, or exercise to fix the binge.
My Background and Approach
For years I struggled with my own eating preoccupations and compensatory efforts to fix the disordered behaviors. As a licensed clinical professional counselor, I use approaches to shift eating behaviors such as new eating practices, retraining your body’s responses, rethinking neurological responses, and living more in the present without preoccupation with food.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am an active member of mindfulness-based meditation group practices with worldwide reach based on the work of Jon Kabat-Zinn. I have had my own mindfulness meditation practice for 20 years. My work is strongly rooted in the perspective of reorientation of our attention to what is happening in the here and now of the present moment as the opportunity for reconnection with our true self and change in undesired patterns.
