About My Clients
I specialize in working with people who: have experienced trauma (religious, sexual, emotional, physical). I also specialize in the military life cycle, having worked with the military for over 5 years. I currently work in an inpatient psychiatric unit, assessing various acute illnesses.
My Background and Approach
“Life can only be understood backwards; but it must be lived forwards." - Søren Kierkegaard . To grow and move forward in our lives, we must often look back with intention to search for lessons learned, strengths gathered, and wounds that need to be healed. My viewpoint is focused in existentialism, which is the belief that we as humans have the freedom and responsibility to create our life’s meaning. Practically, I embed elements of Cognitive and Dialectical Behavior Therapy while also employing other humanistic techniques that follow the existential framework. Together we will explore purpose, meaning and existence. We will work on how to cope with what life throws at us, & what life has thrown at us in the past. It’s not easy “doing life”, but with the right skills, we got this! We will laugh, probably cry (or not if that's not your thing!), enjoy some pop culture references all while working to get you to being the best that you can be.
