About My Clients
The clients I have had the most experience working with are adults (17+) who are dealing with issues related to anxiety, depression, bipolar disorder, adjustment to life changes, and who are experiencing relationship challenges. Many of my past clients have experienced trauma, so I utilize a trauma-informed approach. I also am LGBTQ+ allied and affirming and am experienced working with culturally diverse populations.
My Background and Approach
I have been a college instructor for 16 years and one of the reasons I decided to become a therapist is because of my college students. I noticed that several of my students over the years would stay after class or email me to talk about their challenges as a student, but also issues they were experiencing outside of the classroom such as family, work, relationship, and financial issues. These conversations sparked an interest in me to become a therapist. I can personally relate to so many issues that my clients face. I have dealt with anxiety, depression, trauma, body image issues, and so many other things in my personal life. We're all human and life can be really challenging sometimes. My training has taught me tools while my experience has allowed me insight into what you're going through. I have experience and training as a sexual assault therapist, I recognize how trauma complicates our mental health, and I understand how important it is to have someone to support you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in equality for all and am passionate about social justice issues related to multiple groups in our society. I am LGBTQ+ allied and affirming and I strongly support gender rights and racial equality. I am also an animal-lover and will always fight against animal cruelty and mistreatment.
