Change is stressful, even if it's a good change. Adjusting to a new role or new stage of life is an exciting, draining, and intimidating task. You deserve a space to feel all the feelings, explore your possibilities, and strike out on a new path.

I am passionate about helping parents of teens and adult children. The approach that worked when you were raising a child isn’t effective when that child is becoming an adult. You need new skills for communicating and setting limits. I can help you update your toolkit and revise your approach. I will hold space for you to process how your child's growth affects your identity and phase of life.

You’ll have various options to choose from for managing anxiety such as mindfulness and relaxation skills, examining anxiety-provoking thoughts, understanding root causes, and holistic lifestyle changes. If appropriate, I may suggest a more structured protocol. I have training and supervised experience in providing exposure therapy for generalized anxiety, panic attack disorder, PTSD, and OCD.

We often spend a lot of time exploring and defining the problem and less time on the desired outcome. Focusing on the solution means we get a lot more information about what would be helpful and where to start, and we leverage your strengths and past successes to address current problems. Despite it's name, SFBT is not time limited, but goal oriented, so that when sufficient progress is made on a goal, you may decide to end therapy or define a new goal.

We often know what we would like to improve, but not how. Behavioral strategies and structure will help you become more consistent and implement lasting change. Examining your core beliefs and self-talk, you can evaluate what's working for you and what no longer serves you.

Depression is often a downward spiral, where low mood, lack of interest, and fatigue lead to isolation and inactivity, which worsens your mood and makes it harder to take care of yourself and feel better. I use a combination of integrative and behavioral activation interventions to improve mood by increasing self-care, engagement, and connection.
