About My Clients
Trauma has the ability change so many different parts of oneself; Relationships, Eduction/job goals, Parenting, Self, and how we see/interact with the world. I have been passionate working with individuals who have experienced a wide variety of traumatic events since 2009. My goal in therapy is to provide a safe space that honors the individuals knowledge and personal needs. When working together, we are able to address the parts of self that have been hurt in the past.
My Background and Approach
I attended Adler University in Chicago and completed my MA in Counseling Psychology and Art Therapy in 2010. I come from a Trauma focused/holistic approach, I view therapy as a journey based on trust, mutual respect, and empathy. I am also an Art Therapist. Art making has the ability to address ones experiences in a new way and heal the brain in the process. Ive specialized in this work with adults if they are willing and open to try something new.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe we all have our own life journey and through that journey, we picked up untrue things parents, teachers, coaches have told us. Unfortunately, we then live our life and continue to see ourselves as "unloveable", "not good enough" etc. Through therapy, and the therapeutic relationship I believe we can heal and challenge the narrative from others. I've been witness to this countless number of times. The moment we start to actually hear our own voice, our own narrative, things begin to change. One of the things I love about therapy is the stories. Everyone is so different, different perspectives, different upbringings. I proceed with Love, and Compassion for all. I have continued to do the work around my own biases, and continue to show up with arms open for the underdog.
