About My Clients

Have you ever found yourself questioning if there was something different about you or your child or wondering why you/they can't seem to handle stressful situations in the same way as other people? Are you or your child easily overwhelmed, or even anxious or depressed when life seems too chaotic? As a sensitive person myself, I understand what that's like. In therapy, we can find ways to cope with an overstimulating world as well as explore your and your child's unique strengths.

My Background and Approach

I earned my Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from the University of North Texas, where I received specialized training in play therapy and Child Parent Relationship Training. I have clinical experience working with children, teens, adults, groups, and parents in a variety of settings including private practice and a non-profit working with survivors and witnesses of domestic violence. I take a developmental and holistic approach in order to treat the whole person, whether child, teen, or adult. I strive to create a safe, non-judgmental environment in which clients can change and grow in the ways they want. I believe that every person should be the main character of their own story, and seek to support each client in a way that best fits his/her/their journey.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Carl Rogers said, "the curious paradox is that when I accept myself just as I am, then I can change." This paradox has been confirmed for me time and again in both my work with clients and my personal life. I've come to believe that every person has within them the ability to live a healthy and fulfilling life, but we receive messages about ourselves and the world from a young age that can get in the way. I believe that in a safe environment, we can begin to explore everything that makes us who we are and hold up those messages we've received against our actual experience to determine what is actually true, and what is just a story that's getting in our way.
