About My Clients
Are you struggling to cope with the current pandemic and changes in your life? Are you feeling more lonely and isolated? Has a recent life transition left you anxious and lost? Taking the step to ask for help is not easy. It is my goal to create a safe and compassionate environment where we can explore the stuck parts in your life and establish changes that last. My areas of expertise include anxiety, trauma, couples counseling, and maternal mental health.
My Background and Approach
I believe in the importance of an individualized approach to treatment that supports each person’s expressed needs. My clinical approach is drawn from training in trauma focused and attachment theories. As an emotionally focused therapist, my therapeutic interventions are grounded in the belief that having fulfilling relationships is essential for wellness. Individuals come to therapy for a variety of different reasons, and it is my goal to listen and understand where you feel stuck. In my work with couples, I draw from my trainings in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), an evidenced based treatment model. EFT posits that individuals need secure, meaningful, and reliable connections to others, and the loss of this connection leads to distress. Formerly loving relationships come to be defined by anger, criticism, and isolation. By working together to understand the negative cycle, couples are able to create space for greater understanding and compassion.
