About My Clients
I work with those with anxiety, depression, maternal mental health & overcoming trauma. I'm particularly passionate about serving those who are pregnant, difficulty with getting pregnant, new parents and grief/ loss of pregnancy. I have advanced training in the area of generalized anxiety disorder, perinatal and postpartum depression and/or anxiety (PPD/A). I'm trained in cognitive behavioral therapy, strengths based approach and mindfulness techniques. I look forward to working with you.
My Background and Approach
We'll work together to address your current coping tools (good or bad), support system and overall relationships and how we can find help you find more control in your life. I like to look at a person holistically to help meet your goals. I help you feel like you can advocate for yourself and set boundaries within yourself and others. I have been trained as a labor doula and though I do not practice as one it helped me with assisting those who are pregnant and feeling anxious about the transition into parenthood or for those who had a traumatizing birth to address it and how it has affected you a a parent. I've also been trained with Postpartum Support International as a Certified Maternal Mental Health Counselor. I graduated from University of Illinois at Chicago for my Master of Social Work and my undergrad was at Indiana University.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone in their life could benefit from therapy. I've dealt with anxiety as well as postpartum depression & anxiety personally. It doesn't make me an expert but I can understand the feeling of being alone and I don't want anyone to feel that way especially as a new mother or someone dealing with panic attacks or someone not sure how to get out of the vicious cycle of overthinking. I believe that you are the expert of your life and I'm here as a guide and to provide observations of what I notice and provide strategies to learn new coping mechanisms for unhealthy learned behaviors. Whether you've been in therapy before or it's your first time I'd love to see if I could be a good fit. I believe in therapy being affordable so I offer sliding scale if I have slots open (at this time I do not).
