About My Clients
If you're looking for support in managing the often times inevitable stressors of adulthood, I have extensive experience supporting clients through life experiences including work/school stress, life transitions, communication with others, relationships/intimacy, disordered eating thoughts, body image and self-esteem issues, increasing confidence and assertiveness, and reprocessing traumatic life events.
My Background and Approach
I am a believer that all clients are the expert on themselves — it is critical that while in treatment, you feel heard, respected and seen. I use a holistic approach that includes cognitive, emotional, and body-based interventions to promote healing the connection between our mind and our nervous systems. I believe that looking at the whole person — and always taking into account one’s own societal context — leads to more nuanced and effective treatment. In this way, I try to always take what is being shared in session and keeping in mind how the role of racism, sexism, homophobia, fatphobia, transphobia, ableism, etc play a role in the mental and physical health of my clients. I have extensive training in the treatment of traumatic stress, as well as in understanding the many nuanced ways that our society often seeks to perpetuate the traumatic stress it purports to be attempting to alleviate.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a fat positive, feminist, progressive therapist that firmly believes in the liberation of all bodies (black, brown, queer, femme, disabled, etc) from the symptoms of oppression that we are all impacted by. I am active in my activism community and enjoy promoting the tenets of social justice in my clinical work and in my spare time.
