About My Clients
You feel scared, down, stuck, and alone. You've experienced trauma, grief, or burnout that has overwhelmed your system. You feel disconnected, numb, and out of balance in your mind, body, and spirit. You’ve tried talk therapy in the past with little success. You're unsure if you can improve and get back to your authentic self. Whether navigating a psychological or health condition, trauma, grief/loss, or stress/burnout, I adapt treatment to meet each person’s unique needs.
My Background and Approach
Using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and other evidence-based approaches, I help you make concrete improvements that cascade to multiple areas of your life. I also incorporate mindfulness, self-compassion, spiritual, and other third-wave approaches to help you reconnect with your core and gain clarity so you can get back on track to authentic living. I also have specialized training in Cognitive Processing Therapy and Prolonged Exposure for PTSD and CBT for insomnia and chronic pain. I received my BS in Cross-Cultural Psychology at the University of Richmond, and my MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology at Arizona State University. I completed my APA-accredited predoctoral internship at the Hines VA Hospital, with rotations in PTSD, mindfulness, blind rehab, and TBI. Through my APA-accredited postdoctoral residency at the West LA VA, I gained specialization in trauma-focused treatment and mindfulness and self-compassion.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Throughout my personal and professional life, I have enjoyed interacting with and learning about people from a diversity of backgrounds and life experiences. I believe that in life we are influenced by our experiences, culture, families, and other factors to develop unhealthy patterns and behaviors that disconnect us from our core and from living authentically. Sometimes we go through things that are beyond our capacity to cope, which can lead to mental health, as well as physical health, issues. Having gone through my own trauma and loss, I found talk therapy to only be minimally beneficial. It wasn't until I began making my own changes through CBT skills to break unhealthy patterns and reconnecting with my core self through mindfulness, self-compassion, and other mind-body-spiritual practices that I truly experienced healing. This is why I became a therapist, so I can help you not only develop healthier patterns, but also experience healing from your core.
