About My Clients
When having a baby isn't as easy as you thought it would be, having the support of a therapist with extensive knowledge of the field can make all the difference. Two phrases that I hear over and over is "I wish I reached out for help a long time ago!" and "I wish that I told people about my journey earlier." The world of infertility is so complex and isolating, even more so when you venture into 3rd party reproduction.
My Background and Approach
I have both personal and professional experience in the field of infertility. I am a 6x egg donor and have also worked as a case manager for an egg donation and surrogacy agency. Over the years, I have developed relationships with fertility clinics, attorneys and other industry professionals. I'm a member of ASRM and their Mental Health Professional Group, as well as the Society for Ethics in Egg Donation and Surrogacy (SEEDS) and the California Association for Marriage and Family Therapists (CAMFT). I emotionally support my clients as they navigate loss and learn to cope with roadblocks to parenthood. Often, clients find that they've lost their identify along the way; I help them find their new identity as they recognize their strengths and how infertility has shaped who they are today. And if using donor gametes or embryos is presented as an option, I help process emotions, fears and logistics of 3rd party reproduction. I help educate and guide my clients down their own path.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am an advocate for donor conceived people and open/known donor relationships. I also understand and respect that cultural differences may not align with this philosophy, and I help clients process those feelings. I support the Black Lives Matter movement and LGBTQ rights. I am on the Be The Match bone marrow registry and donate blood.
