In understand the feeling of paralyzed by these symptoms and unsure of what to do next. In our time together, we will learn and practice skills to manage anxiety and explore your values and beliefs so that you can move towards a meaningful, fulfilling life.
My Background and Approach
I am passionate about treating the whole person and incorporating spirituality into therapy. My goal is to provide you with tools and strategies so that you can feel empowered to manage your anxiety and depression. We will do this by learning skills that help us to manage our distressing emotions in the moment, skills that help us identify and evaluate our thoughts, and skills that improve our relationships with people in our lives. We will also explore your values and your identity to help you clarify your goals in and outside the therapy room. My theoretical approach is primarily rooted in cognitive behavioral therapy, although I will also draw from acceptance and commitment therapy, dialectical behavioral therapy and person-centered approaches.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I value treating the whole person - including your mental, emotional, spiritual, and even physical health. It is often unhelpful to separate these areas from one another. I identify as a Christian and am able to incorporate this perspective into your sessions if you so desire. I value client autonomy and will only utilize this perspective if you request this. For clients who do choose to explore this perspective, I enjoy integrating faith into mental health treatment. Our unique experience with faith can be both a source of beliefs or experiences that may contribute to our distress and a necessary part of healing. Faith can be a tremendous source of strength and resilience and be an tremendous addition to the therapeutic process.
