About My Clients
I specialize in working with veterinary professionals, pet parents/families (particularly those experiencing pet-related grief and loss), the LGBTQIA2S+ community, domestic violence survivors, and female-identified folks struggling with addiction. I welcome my clients to bring their whole selves to therapy - cursing, crying, laughing, dancing, all are welcome. Pets in the therapy space are also welcome and highly encouraged!
My Background and Approach
I completed my Master's of Social Work at Fairfield University in 2022, with a certificate in LGBTQIA2S+ Mental Health. After I completed my program, I served as the Veterinary Social Worker for a large specialty/emergency veterinary hospital. I'm a former Veterinary Assistant and Client Liaison, and love supporting those on "both sides of the exam table." During my Master's program, I worked as an addiction counselor for pregnant and parenting women and as a Domestic Violence Advocate. I've grounded myself in a deep understanding of trauma, including the effects of trauma on our brains, nervous systems, and bodies. I incorporate somatic (body-based) methods to help folks heal from trauma and other mental health challenges.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in the dignity and worth of every person, and will meet you exactly where you're at any point in time. I identify as Queer and am an active member of the LGBTQIA2S+ community. I support the Black Lives Matter movement, inclusive practice for Black, Brown and Indigenous folks, am trans-affirming, and volunteer as a Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion advisor for my local sorority chapter. I also support body positivity, body neutrality, intuitive eating, and the Health at Every Size movement.
