About My Clients
Are you feeling lost lately? Wondering if you're on the right track? You're in the right place! I know these questions can make everyday life difficult to manage. Not to mention those feelings of helplessness, hopelessness, "I can't get out of bed". Or high highs that have you moving too fast. Or worry that seems endless, consuming your energy. Or the loss of a loved one or a dream. I have this experience. My person centered approach allows a safe place to land and start the process of healing.
My Background and Approach
My experience and education as a Licensed Mental Health Counselor allows me to provide empathy and understanding to my clients. I have been in the mental health field for 15 years in various capacities, including case management, clinic work with a wide variety of people and issues, and with neurodivergent individuals. My work is rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). The theory is that thoughts, actions and emotions are all connected. Change one and the other two fall into place. It can be a challenging process but, if you're willing to do the work, the outcomes are positive. I also have experience in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), where you learn about emotional regulation, distress tolerance, relationship effectiveness and mindfulness. Again, a challenge, but shown to be effective, especially in Borderline Personality Disorder, which I also treat. My approaches require us working together towards your wellness.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My core belief is that YOU are the expert in your own life. You know what is true for you, what works and what doesn't. I am here to guide you and encourage you on your path, but ultimately, you are the one making the call. I am a practicing Christian and I love being able to share my faith and encourage people in their walk with God. All religions or no religion are welcome in my practice and I respect the diversity of religions that we are lucky to have in this country. I am a massive Buffalo Bills fan and I only discriminate against Patriots fans. Just kidding; everyone makes mistakes ;) I also participate in fundraisers for suicide prevention, the Mental Health Association (MHA) and the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI).
