About My Clients

I love to work with people who are longing to find a stronger sense of self, wanting to break free from painful, limiting patterns and beliefs, struggling with boundaries and healthy relationships, and seeking a greater sense of meaning in life. I address issues like anxiety, grief/loss, and trauma. While I love to work with most anyone, I especially enjoy working with members of the queer, trans and non-binary community, and highly sensitive people.

My Background and Approach

I currently offer 60 or 90 minute sessions. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor and and adjunct professor at Portland State University. My career in mental health began in 2007, when I began working with at-risk youth in a therapeutic residential treatment home. My work in this field grew from there, as over the years and throughout graduate school, I worked in a variety of settings including an emergency shelter for CSEC youth, a college counseling center, a psychiatric hospital unit, a drug and alcohol treatment center, and a mental health urgent walk-in clinic. I have been in private practice since 2014. I am a radical, relational therapist who brings my training/knowledge, passion for social justice, genuine presence, empathy, practicality and humor to the work. I support my clients in honestly exploring their internal world, healing wounds, discovering their inherent strengths, and building a meaningful and authentic life.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that the need for mental health care is universal. I work hard to de-stigmatize the pursuit of therapy, and to promote it as an avenue to health and wellness that would benefit everyone. I care about mental health care being accessible, so I offer 1/4 of my sessions at a significant discount. I am deeply invested in social justice and dismantling systems of oppression. I engage in ongoing education and self-examination around my own biases especially regarding racism and white privilege. I can't help but recognize systemic issues at play when working with my clients. I have very progressive political and social values. I am a member of the queer community, a huge animal lover, an amateur backpacker, a karaoke enthusiast, an auntie to my amazing niblings, and originally an east coaster. I also make pottery in my free time.
