About My Clients

Trauma and traumatic grief is an experience that can change your very existence, including the way you feel, think, and act around others. If you need support and skills to help move forward then I am here to help. Whether it was violence, relationship incident, or something else, getting help as soon as you can minimizes the chance of having long term effects. If you’re struggling with relationship concerns and building yourself back up I can help.

My Background and Approach

My counseling belief is that you have the inner strength and promise to gain back control. Maybe you have already tried everything. Maybe this is the first time you’ve felt the courage to change. My job is to walk with you in your journey, not just giving advice or forcing you to do what I think. This is your life to take control of and, with my experience and techniques to assist, you can. I have extensive experience working with substance use, domestic violence, victimizations, and trauma of many kinds. I use prolonged exposure, cognitive behavioral therapy that’s trauma focused and EMDR so that I can cater our sessions to what support you will need or feel comfortable with.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

As a minority woman, I feel I can identify with struggles many people have. Micro-aggressions, feeling unheard or even silenced, taken for granted are all feelings that I have compassion and empathy for due to my own experiences in life. I support more liberal views generally especially when it’s towards underserved communities, animal rights, and climate change issues. I am not personally aligned with a religion but am spiritual and am as open minded as possible for others’ upbringings and beliefs. I am active in suicide prevention and domestic violence awareness and participate in outreach across the low country of SC. Although I do have these views, I work with law enforcement and am supportive of their increased and consistent training of mental health, community driven programs and outreach so everyone can meet and understand one another better. This has helped me grow empathy towards law enforcement in my specific area of the state of SC from seeing them take responsibility.
