About My Clients
My clients are often struggling with issues keeping them from taking the next steps in their life. As a trans-femme therapist, I connect with the experience of LGBTQIA+ individuals. As a musician, I understand the frustration when our goals aren't being met due to difficulties we're having with our mental health. The struggles of daily life are unique and complex, I approach you as an individual and want to learn everything we can about how to help you.
My Background and Approach
My mental health career started at a permanent supportive housing site in Seattle, WA. I worked for 4 years supporting individuals who had experienced chronic homelessness maintain their housing, and meet their goals. As a case manager I learned that happiness may endure tremendous struggle and that the communities we live in impact us deeply. From there, I went on to case manage at a multi-disciplinary community mental health center in Seattle, WA. I worked with a dynamic range of individuals who were experiencing a range of difficulties. This required me to think quickly on my feet to support my clients. Now, I am a clinical intern with Arcadia. I work with people on moving past whatever keeps them from taking that next step. I proceed with consent and care to support growth in my clientele. Early goals are establishing trust and stability, then learning how the bumps in the road have impacted them and continue to. My gratitude for the work I get to do is unenumerable.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe a life well lived is a multi-faceted one. My ability to care for others is informed by how I have shown up in my personal life. Whether it's as a trans person, musician, artist, family member, friend, lifelong Seattle metro resident, or cat parent, it supports me in my ability to be what my clients need. Therapy is a delicate process, not one that can be replicated by a formula, but one that must be informed by tedious research. There is not a one size fits all solution for mental health. When people say what they need, I believe them. I advocate for my clients every way I can and believe that we are the result of unrelenting oppression. When we make something beautiful for the sake of experiencing something, we heal a little bit. When we spend time with people for the love of people, we find a little more peace. Helping people connect the dots that makes the map to their joy is what motivates me to continue this work.
