About My Clients
I am passionate about helping LGBTQ and polyamorous people reconnect in relationships. I also specialize with helping folks who struggle with trauma and unhelpful coping skills that they would like to change - especially substance use, self-harm, and disordered eating. I provide letters of recommendation for folks seeking gender affirming healthcare.
My Background and Approach
I received my Masters degree specializing in LGBTQIA+ studies, and I understand the importance of finding a therapist who has both a professional and personal understanding of navigating mental health and relationships as an LGBTQ+ person. I trained in EMDR through the Institute of Creative Mindfulness and Attachment-Based Family Therapy through Drexel University. Prior to becoming a therapist, I was a substance use counselor working with LGBTQIA+ teens/parents in residential, PHP, IOP, and outpatient. I am a certified SMART Recovery Facilitator and Seeking Safety trained with over 3,000 hours of supervised substance use counseling experience.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I approach therapy first as a fellow human. As a queer, transmasculine, and polyamorous individual, my goal is to facilitate genuine interactions that assist LGBTQIA+ clients with discovering their innate wisdom, resilience, and authenticity.Working with me is a collaborative process to repair relationship ruptures, discover more helpful coping skills, and process underlying needs and hurts. I am grounded in a Liberation Psychology approach, which intertwines awareness of systems of oppression, culture, and social justice with therapy in a way that assists LGBTQIA+ folks to rewrite their personal narrative, heal relationships, and work toward social equity on a larger scale. All my approaches are person-centered, trauma-informed, and compassionate.
