About My Clients
My clients are often teens and emerging adults navigating the journey of figuring out who they are —exploring identity, coming out, transitioning, or finding where they belong. Maybe you're struggling with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, body image concerns, or life transitions that feel overwhelming. Whatever brings you here, you're looking for a therapist who truly gets it — someone who won't judge your messiest thoughts or biggest fears.
My Background and Approach
I'm Elliot Wyman, a counselor currently completing my Masters in Counseling at Northwestern University. With a background in psychology and extensive education in women's, gender, and LGBTQ+ studies, I bring both personal and professional understanding to our work together. My approach blends Psychodynamic, CBT, Mindfulness-Based, and Person-Centered techniques, all through a feminist and multicultural lens. I believe therapy should feel like a genuine conversation with someone who celebrates all parts of who you are. While I specialize in working with adolescents and emerging adults, I welcome clients of any age who resonate with my approach. Having navigated my own journey of identity and self-discovery, I understand how isolating these experiences can feel. I create space where we explore difficult emotions while also celebrating your strengths and progress. You already carry the strength within you to heal and grow — I'm here to walk alongside you as you discover it.
My Values as a Therapist
As an LGBTQ+ person, my identity isn't just something I bring to the therapy room — it shapes how I understand the world and show up for my clients. I know firsthand what it's like to search for a therapist who truly gets queer experiences, and I'm committed to being that person for others. I'm a strong advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, intersectional feminism, anti-racism, and body positivity. I'm also sex-worker and kink positive. These aren't just surface-level commitments — they fundamentally shape how I practice therapy and how we'll work together. I believe in examining how oppressive systems and discrimination contribute to mental health struggles. I approach therapy through a feminist and multicultural lens, which means centering your lived experiences and acknowledging how identity, power, and privilege impact wellbeing. I believe that all parts of who you are deserve to be welcomed without judgment. You deserve more than tolerance. You deserve celebration.
