About My Clients
If you are tired of feeling like a stranger to yourself and long to feel more at home in your own skin, then welcome. While many of my clients come from immigrant backgrounds, I welcome all identities. We'll explore themes of identity, challenging family dynamics, and the weight and wisdom of generational experiences. Some of my special interests include sibling therapy for adults, and individual/family therapy for adults experiencing a DNA discovery (unexpected biological parent or relative).
My Background and Approach
Born in the Philippines and raised in SoCal, I identify as an immigrant daughter who knows what it means to navigate between worlds. I encourage a therapeutic space where we can get curious about how culture shapes your views on mental health, including anxiety, depression, grief, trauma, and relationship issues. I use a carefully threaded combo of therapeutic approaches, mainly Narrative therapy, Solution-Focused therapy, Somatic therapy, and parts-work therapy. I'm trained in Level 1 Brainspotting for those interested in brain-body based techniques. The goal of each session is for you to walk away feeling cared for, respected, and wonderfully different from how you arrived. With less emphasis on labels and more intentional thinking when it comes to diagnosing, I prioritize understanding you as a whole person and seeing you beyond your symptoms. We will collect your values, strengths, and skills as key ingredients towards change.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My life philosophy inspires my therapeutic style, which embraces personal freedom, loving relationships, and creativity as pillars for navigating our complex social world. My therapy work seeks to honor and help people have a say in the beliefs and legacies that get passed up, down, and across generations. I believe that when we tend to ourselves and those we call family, we make waves that heal our local and global communities. After a day of providing therapy, I remind myself of how important it is to invest in my own well-being. Outside of work, I cherish time spent with my loved ones and pets. When I’m seeking peace in solitude, I am likely to reach for a book, my watercolor set, or my comfiest shoes to go on a walk. Some of my other joys and interests include live music/performances, animals, writing, yin yoga, meditation, and energy healing.
