About My Clients
My feminist alignment informs my therapeutic approach, as I firmly believe in the principles of gender equality and social justice. I recognize the unique challenges faced by individuals who identify within a minority identity and the intersections of their identities within other forms of oppression. I aim to create a safe and inclusive space where individuals can explore and heal from the wounds they may have incurred due to these systemic injustices and recent or generational trauma.
My Background and Approach
At the heart of my practice lies Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). This evidence-based modality focuses on developing psychological flexibility, promoting mindfulness, and fostering values-driven action. ACT teaches individuals to accept difficult thoughts and emotions while cultivating the capacity to make meaningful choices aligned with their values. By working collaboratively with clients, we explore patterns of thinking and behavior that may be holding them back, allowing for the development of effective coping strategies and enhanced well-being. During our sessions, I prioritize creating a non-judgmental space where clients feel heard, validated, and supported. Whether you are struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem, or navigating relationship issues, I am committed to tailoring our therapeutic journey to meet your unique needs.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As a social worker, empowerment is at the heart of all of my work with clients. I believe each and every client is the expert of their own life and should always be in the captains chair of their therapy experience. I have experience with the immigration process, am an avid video gamer, and cat lady as well as an ally and member of the LGBTQQIP2SA.
