About My Clients

I work with adults who are looking for help with mental health and/or substance use issues. Whether you are struggling with grief, anxiety, depression, stress, interpersonal issues or substance use issues, I look forward to partnering with you on your journey. I am LGBTQIA allied - meaning that I do not have lived experience in this area but am working to learn more every day.

My Background and Approach

Congratulations on your wellness journey! I believe that increasing our wellbeing (being well with ourselves) is a step that we need not take alone. Anytime we stop and take a look at our life – where we are and where we want to be - it’s easy to go into a place of judgment. I offer a connection that meets you where you are, welcoming whatever you bring to the table with curiosity (a great antidote to judgment!) as well as a healthy dose of compassion. I am a licensed professional counselor in Virginia. I graduated from James Madison University in 2004 and focus on working with adults. I have 16 years of experience in a community agency setting . I am also trained as an Acu-Detox Specialist through NADA and, as such, am licensed to provide a five-point ear acupuncture protocol. I have a person-centered approach and many years of experience with mindfulness and compassion-based practices.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that the journey to a more fulfilling life is a holistic one that takes into account our physical wellbeing as well as emotional, mental and spiritual wellness. Together we’ll take a look at where you are and where you’d like to be, and paths for getting there. I will create a place where you are valued as we explore together your immediate and long-term goals. I value diversity in all its forms and have a personal spiritual practice that is centered on social justice and earth-based spirituality. I believe we each form our own spiritual path that is meaningful to us. I am involved in a task force setting protocol for law enforcement's engagement with communities of color as well as people dealing with mental health, substance use, intellectual disabiliities and more. I am on the Welcoming Congregation Committee of our local UU congregation, helping to educate and advocate for the LGBTQIA community.
