About My Clients
I may be a strong fit for clients who wish to build a collaborative relationship with their therapist founded on human connection. I enjoy supporting individuals who feel as if they live in a world not built for them, want to build a better world, struggle to live under systemic oppression, or are healing from abuse. As a fat, queer autistic woman, I also invite clients seeking shared lived experiences with their therapist. I offer free 15-minute consultations--let's see if we're a good fit!
My Background and Approach
As a student therapist, I hope we can co-learn and build an approach that is tailored to you informed by multiple modalities. I want to support clients to assemble a toolkit for themselves to practice in the day to day. I believe in self-determination above all. Clients already have the solutions and motivation to accomplish their goals but need support to develop their skills and put them into practice. I am also justice-oriented in my approach and believe that systems of oppression impact us all. Individuals and individual struggles are always contextualized within the broader environment, and by identifying internalized systemic beliefs we can increase self-acceptance and capacity for transformation.
Why I Became a Therapist
I come to clinical work by way of lived experience as a queer autistic fat woman, my background in sexual and domestic violence advocacy and prevention, and prison abolitionist organizing. I am a fierce advocate for justice and I believe that to build a world we want to live in, we must practice both collective care and individual self-care. I am currently pursuing my Master's of Social Work degree with a clinical focus because I had my own poor experiences in therapy growing up and began to understand myself and my peers needed, in addition to individual therapy, systemic change which materially supported our transformation.
