I've spent the last 10 years in professional practice working with survivors of sexual assault/trauma and sex trafficking. Through a trauma informed approach, I help clients diagnosed with PTSD or experiencing PTSD symptoms understand not only the mental and emotional impact of trauma, but also the neurological and physiological effects that may be disrupting their lives.

As a woman of color, I have an embodied understanding of the weight of intergenerational trauma. Using my 16 years of professional experience, lifelong lived experience, and a trauma focused lens, I help clients to deconstruct this very sensitive and nuanced category of life. I understand that intergenerational trauma has roots in race, gender, sexual orientation, poverty/socioeconomic status, and cultural divides and casts a wide net.

I have worked with abuse victims throughout my 16 years in practice. No matter when the abuse occurred in your life, you may find that it has left traces that inform how you relate to the world around you. It can impact your work, your relationships, your spirituality, and even your own sense of worth. I help clients redefine the meaning they may have made of their abuse and create a new relationship to it.

It is no secret that our current social and political climate has further widened the gaps of cultural divides. I recognize the significance of cultural values and have worked throughout my career to provide an informed, accepting, nonjudgmental space for clients to explore cultural concerns and the ways this can impact daily life. I seek to be a safe person for all who enter into therapeutic relationship with me.

I have been certified in EMDR for 7 years and have seen the efficacy of this empirically based model in action. By changing the way trauma lives inside of the nervous system, clients experience relief from distressing symptoms that often feel like they hijack their thoughts and actions.

I have used a CBT approach for the duration of my professional practice as a way to provide clients with actionable steps that helps them to regain a sense of control and mastery over those things that are within their control. These skills provide an organized framework of interacting with our minds in concrete ways.
