About My Clients
It’s difficult to feel safe when you feel like you are always reacting to things around you. The world feels threatening and out of control. Maybe even the spaces that should feel safe don’t. It may be hard for those around you to understand your discomfort and the ways you navigate the world based on your previous traumatic experiences. And maybe, you can’t even remember what made you feel this way. You’re not alone, many people have been here before, and together we can work towards healing.
My Background and Approach
Navigating trauma is no small feat; like many, I am not a stranger to this process. I know first-hand the importance of having a therapist that can walk alongside you in the journey to processing, healing, and growth. I work to establish a safe space with unconditional positive regard and a nonjudgmental attitude where collaboration, empowerment, choice, and respect can flourish. As a trauma-informed clinician, I have worked with individuals navigating various traumatic experiences in their life as well as supported survivors of domestic and sexual violence. Together we can work to untangle you from the realities of the past and find peace and excitement in the future. We will work to reclaim your life on your own terms and redefine what safety means to you. This journey can take time and commitment, but I’ll be right there beside you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in authentic human connection. I believe that an authentic therapeutic relationship can facilitate self-understanding, healing, and growth. I believe we do the best with what we have as resilient human beings. But I also believe this world is fundamentally unjust, and some folks have access to resources that others don’t. And in fact, refusal to acknowledge and address these social inequalities inherently inhibits authentic human connection. As a queer clinician, I know the importance of understanding these complex systems of inequality and providing a safe space for clients to explore these conversations while feeling validated and heard. Therapy is not a one-size fits all and thus requires flexibility and creativity to meet each client’s unique struggles and beautiful complexities.
