About My Clients
You're searching for a therapist because the reality is some things in life are painful & difficult to comprehend. Maybe it’s depression or anxiety wearing you down, or grief from loss: of a loved one, a pet, a job, or things not going as you had hoped or planned. It takes a lot of courage to reach out & find help. It's my intention to create & offer a safe space where you can heal, embrace your strengths & abilities, & have conversations that help you grow & discover new things about yourself.
My Background and Approach
While my training was focused in Strengths-Based therapy models such as Solution-Focused Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Collaborative Language Systems, therapy is not a one-size-fits-all. We will work together to find what works best for you (and what works may change with time and progress) and moves you toward the goals that have brought you here. Strengths-Based therapy focuses on the individual’s strengths and abilities and using those resources to empower the client on their journey addressing what brought them to therapy. During our time together, some days will be harder than others as you work through challenging experiences, emotions, or behaviors... and at times there will be tears and frustration. But as you do the work, there will also be times of joy and celebration. I will be there walking alongside you with guidance and support.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Life is full of curveballs and there aren't always good answers for why bad things happen or why people hurt you. But it is my belief that people are stronger than they realize and have strengths and the capacity for growth, healing and change, that sometimes gets lost in the hurtful experiences that happen in life. During my own life journey, I have many times found myself in need of additional support, which ended up being the supportive space of a therapist, so that I could heal, gain insight through processing difficult experiences, and still forge ahead in my life, finding fulfillment and contentment. It is that support I received in therapy, along with acceptance and a listening ear, that drew me to the path of becoming a therapist – I knew I wanted to provide to others, the safe space and type of support I received and that helped me discover and build on my own strengths and to find and realize the hopes I have for my life.
