About My Clients
Are you struggling with daily activities? Do you find it hard to find motivation? Do you feel alone? Are you afraid to seek help? Seeking help can be scary, but acknowledging that you need it is a great first step. Struggling with your mental health can feel isolating. My goal as a counselor is to provide a space where you feel free to explore these feelings and work towards goals you define.
My Background and Approach
As a counselor, I believe in the importance of safe spaces. Therapy should be a place where clients feel heard, understood, and free to explore what they deem necessary. A huge part of therapy is finding a space where you can experience openness, trust and build a therapeutic relationship with your therapist. I know that seeking counseling can be scary. I want to acknowledge how looking for a therapist is a great first step. As individuals we write our own stories. I would love to hear yours. I have dual masters degrees in clinical mental health counseling and forensic mental health leadership. My training consists of working teenagers and adults. I have experience working with anxiety, depression, trauma, suicidal ideation, self-harm, and personality disorders. I use Person-Centered Theory, ACT, elements of DBT, mindfulness exercises, and CBT.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we all have the potential to be the best versions of ourselves. As individuals we are on a path that we choose and each fork in the road plays a major part. I find myself aligned with the idea that we can develop behaviors and thoughts that go against our potential best self. All of this is to say that I believe we can get back on track to being our best possible self through a safe space that is judgement free where the client can experience empathy. I believe these are elements that are important to healing. I truly believe in the importance of safe spaces especially for people who do not feel heard. I have noticed how just having a place to process can positively impact mental health. I enjoy musical theatre and I love a show with good drama. I chose a school for my master's degree that was heavily impacted by social justice. Social justice and advocacy are very important to me. I want to support my clients to the best of my abilities.
