About My Clients
When we have been through traumatic experiences (experiences that leave us feeling afraid, helpless, and unsafe), it can be difficult to sit with emotions and trust what our bodies tell us. I help those I work with learn to sit with and get to know their emotions and bodies. I believe the body holds great wisdom. When we sit with and learn from our bodies we benefit greatly. “We heal when we can be with what we feel.” - Dr. Hillary McBride
My Background and Approach
Each individual coming into therapy is valuable and capable of healing and growth. I work from a self-compassion and trauma-informed approach. I listen carefully to my clients' inner wisdom, as I believe that each individual is the expert on their world. I am trained in Gottman couples therapy, EMDR trauma therapy, and integrating faith into sessions for Christian clients.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that every person is valuable and that healing is always possible. Sadly, there are systems in place that cause disconnection from our bodies and barriers to healing (homophobia, racism, sexism, classism, and the like). I work hard in session to provide a safe space, acknowledge people’s different identities, and recognize my own privileges in the work.
