About My Clients

I work with a variety of populations including LGBTQIA+, trans, marginalized individuals, and clients in nontraditional relationships, including polyamory. I also work with individuals outside of these groups including those struggling with anxiety, depression or life transitions. We can discuss or use art directives to help expand perspective, express, and explore important life material. I primarily use intersectional feminist theory, person-centered, and ACT (Acceptance & Commitment) therapy.

My Background and Approach

I have a Masters in Art Therapy & Clinical Counseling from Emporia State University with a specialization in addictions counseling. My approach is person-centered/ prioritizing the client’s humanity and needs in the room, relational/ or the practice of an intentional relationship and utilizing the therapy space as an intentional reparative relational experience (sometimes through the practice and modeling of accountability), and I also offer nature-based metaphors and elements to reflect the healing power of nature. I am informed by intersectional feminist theory, which considers how different aspects of identity (like gender, race, and class) impact experience. We can flexible operate between verbal or creatively processing through physical media. This fluid approach helps to express, expand, and explore important life material for people who struggle to find language for their experiences.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Before I became a therapist, the most powerful positive impact to my life was compassion and curiosity. Others choosing to stay through the storm of confusion and overwhelm, accepting me as a whole human being (flaws and all), and sharing my experiences… it helped me solidify my felt sense of the world and my values in navigating it. I now offer this to you. Let’s explore your story, strengths, challenges, and whatever North Star guides you. I value autonomy, curiosity, and of course creativity! I want to provide relevant and effective resources, facilitate personal and collective empowerment, and nurture a perspective of growth and radical acceptance. I will absolutely talk about political events, the personal and collective impacts of these events, and during these discussions I will facilitate the space to explore the current needs resulting from these developments. None of us are meant to work alone.
