About My Clients
The clients I work with are often people who are searching for a deeper understanding of themselves, their relationships, and to process challenges ranging from overwhelming anxiety, navigating the complicated feelings of grief and loss, body-image and self-esteem issues, self-harm and suicidality, and deeply-rooted traumas. I have had the privilege of working with a wide range of clients from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, as well as members of the LGBTQ+ community.
My Background and Approach
I am a person-centered therapist and value establishing a collaborative relationship with clients in order to empower and encourage them to look inwards and work towards change and acceptance. I know every client comes to a session with unique life experiences I have not had and each client is their own expert. I use an integrative style, which means that I pull from different therapeutic approaches to meet the needs of each individual, while working together with my clients to understand what works best for them. As a trauma-informed therapist, I have learned that trauma is often at the center of many of the emotional challenges we face. It is crucial for me to work with clients to make sure they have the tools necessary to navigate these difficult topics and guide them in a safe, non-judgmental, and compassionate manner to understand, process, and heal deep wounds. I want to help you cultivate a deeper awareness and understanding of yourself and encourage self-acceptance.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
In my personal and professional experiences, I have been able to work with under-privileged individuals with severe mental health impairments, substance abuse, and significant grief and trauma. It is a passion of mine to reduce stigma and increase understanding through education, both with my clients and outside of my therapy practice. I enjoy engaging in Pride in my community and supporting other causes the encourage open-mindedness and acceptance, such as the Black Lives Matter movement. I also love animals and have a passion for animal-assisted therapy! I believe that pets can be incredibly important in promoting mental and physical well-being, providing unconditional love, and encouraging us to take care of ourselves and them to provide them with a comfortable life. In the future, I have plans to train and incorporate a therapy dog in my practice for those who have an interest in this type of treatment!
