My Background and Approach
I counsel from an integrated approach and biblical worldview (open to other religions too). I have skills in Story Informed Trauma Therapy, Emotion Focused Therapy, EMDR, Premarital and Play Therapy. I also have skills in working with trauma, PTSD, and marriage and couples issues. I have interests in Animal-assisted therapy and Animal-assisted play therapy. In counseling, I emphasize the therapeutic alliance that is built between the client and the counselor through: a warm unconditional positive regard (UPR), empathy, acceptance, encouragement, transparency, and empowering the client through the treatment process. I love helping others. You don't have to suffer in silence. I look forward to helping you be the best version of you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that everyone can change and grow at any time in their lives. I don't believe that there is a limit to human capacity or growth. I think the main reason we develop mental health issues is because they are unhealthy learned behaviors that we have picked up along the way, unprocessed issues, or unresolved trauma. Which means that I think you can unlearn the faulty behaviors and replace them with healthy ones. As a child, I suffered from anxiety and panic attacks. Through my own therapy, I learned how to handle my anxiety and move past it so that it didn't have control over me. I haven't had a panic attack in years and I want you to feel the same freedom that I experience every day. True freedom can be found if you are willing to work through the hard parts of your story.
