About My Clients
My clients are people who are thriving in many areas of their lives while also feeling like they are quietly falling apart due to anxiety or thoughts about difficult things they have experienced in the past. They are people from a wide range of backgrounds, including people in the LGBTQ+ community, people in monogamous or non-monogmous relationships, people with rich life experiences to draw on, and usually people with a good sense of humor that may have gotten a little lost along the way.
My Background and Approach
I graduated from Smith College School for Social Work in 2006. Soon after graduation, I took a position on an inpatient psychiatric unit at a hospital in Boston where I worked for a number of years and in different roles, including as an outpatient clinician and a mental health clinician in the emergency department. I later took on a role with the Department of Mental Health (DMH) at a state hospital in Massachusetts where I provided care to people with severe and persistent mental illnesses. After moving to New Hampshire, I worked in community health with people who were very low income and often unhoused. I provided clinical care and was also in a management position. I am very excited to now have my own practice. During the years that I was gaining clinical experience, I was also building on my expertise. I have extensive training in CBT as well as EMDR, and enjoy integrating evidence based practices into my work.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that we all have the capacity to become the version of ourselves that is unencumbered by the negative beliefs that have developed as a result of harmful people and systems. I also believe that therapy is collaborative and that the best work is done when we can examine your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors together.
