About My Clients
I love working with adults, teens, and couples dealing with mental health issues, relationships, or life transitions. Some specialties include anxiety or panic, trauma (both recent and childhood), creative/entertainment industry issues, parenting, and identity issues.
My Background and Approach
In college, I was a journalism major (go Northwestern Wildcats!). In my 20s, I was a SAG-AFTRA actress. What do these have in common? I love helping people to share their stories, and that’s what I continue to do as a therapist. My first priority is to make sure you feel heard and truly understood. I'll listen without judgment and be careful with your trust. I don't have an agenda, but I'm also not a passive head-nodder -- I'll help you to assess where you are and where you want to be, and I'll provide tools and support while you're on your way there. If you have questions about my education and training, or the modalities I use to help clients, feel free to visit my website.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Growth occurs in repairing, not in perfection. Mind and body are inextricably linked -- when you nurture one, you nurture the other. Having a good relationship doesn't mean you NEVER argue -- it means that you argue fairly, safely, and respectfully. Your past doesn't have to predict your future. You CAN break dysfunctional patterns and cycles, even if they have spanned generations. Therapy doesn't have to be serious all the time -- sometimes you've got to laugh. On a personal level, I know that Black lives matter, and that white allies -- if we're going to be actual allies -- need to work every day to disrupt and dismantle white supremacist heteropatriarchy, starting by listening and amplifying the voices of BIPOC and queer folx. LGBTQ+ folx and immigrants are welcome, supported, and celebrated here. I'm a parent. I'm a volunteer with Moms Demand Action/Everytown for Gun Safety, because domestic abuse, IPV, or suicidal thoughts can turn deadly with easy access to a firearm.
