About My Clients
My preferred target population are teens, adolescents and young adults struggling with depression, anxiety, and life-stressors. I am also interested in LGBTQ related issues. I am interested in being a voice for the voiceless and committed to providing exceptional care for all clients. I believe early intervention is the 1st step toward emotional healing and therefore I prefer the younger population.
My Background and Approach
I completed my yearlong clinical supervision at Northwestern Medicine-Behavioral Health providing outpatient services to help clients overcome emotional and mental health issues. Upon graduating with my master’s from Concordia University, I worked as an Emergency Crisis Counselor at DuPage County Health Department providing treatment to individuals and families, for mental and emotional health issues and relationship problems. I have conducted mental health assessments and provided treatment recommendation for clients with a variety of conditions, including anxiety, depression, grief, low self-esteem, stress, suicidal impulses. My approach involves identifying and acknowledging what is at the root of the client’s concerns/ issues while utilize the following modalities: CBT, Motivational Interviewing, Person- Centered and Solution Focus Brief Therapy. The goal of therapy is to help clients learn how to identify and change their destructive or disturbing thought patterns.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I want clients to know they are in a safe and supportive environment; feeling accepted and understood, while also challenging and inspiring them to take on new challenges and see things from a different perspective. I also want clients to understand, therapy takes work, it takes time, and the outcome all depends on their efforts and the therapeutic relationship. Experiencing my own trauma and overcoming it has shaped me as a therapist. It has helped me be more empathetic and non-judgmental.
