Confidence in one's value as a human being is a precious psychological resource and generally a highly positive factor in life; it is correlated with achievement, good relationships, and satisfaction. Possessing little self-regard can lead people to become depressed, to fall short of their potential, or to tolerate abusive relationships and situations.

Anxiety is extremely prevalent in our modern world, and often finds expression in social situations, existential concerns, or in specific areas such as elevators or crowded places. Anxiety is not inherently "bad", but when it is overwhelming or debilitating, it needs to be addressed. I work collaboratively with clients to identify and understand the specific nature of their struggles with anxiety in order to target these symptoms effectively.

Different clients call for different treatment approaches. For clients struggling with intrusive thoughts, rigid thinking patterns, or negative core beliefs, it is often useful to examine these thought- patterns in an objective, scientific way, utilizing CBT techniques such as thought-challenging, externalizing, or various relaxation techniques.

ACT can be highly effective for those who struggle to "let go" of intrusive or negative thoughts or unwanted emotions. I incorporate ACT interventions into my treatment approach for specific clients who can benefit from building psychological flexibility through a combination of mindfulness skills self-acceptance work.

I work in close relationship with clients to understand themes and patterns, often stemming from childhood. Using the therapeutic relationship as the centerpiece, we can explore how these themes and patterns play out in the client's life, and begin to understand how they developed in the first place. By gradually bringing these unconscious or subconscious thoughts, feelings, and patterns, into awareness, we can begin to replace maladaptive patterns with adaptive ones.
