About My Clients
I believe psychotherapy is a project between two people where the goal is to make contact with conscious and unconscious sources of emotional pain. Psychotherapy circumscribes a space where what has been denied, unimagined, forgotten, or unspeakable can become imagined, spoken and felt. The process generates a reading of the self that is vastly more dynamic than what our lives often permit, leading to the easing of suffering and the creation of new possibilities.
My Background and Approach
Psychotherapy is fundamentally an open space, an invitation. There is a freedom to it that takes courage and tolerance. It can involve a deconstructive or constructive momentum where you may not necessarily be told what to do or how to feel. I provide a space that is confidential, patient and curious to allow us to experience what comes to mind and indeed, what does not.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My personal belief is that all people should have access to long-term, deep psychotherapy. The origins of the field at one point lived up to this promise, and I believe that we should continue to honor this history by treating the psychotherapeutic relationship as a place where political, cultural and psychological strains can all converge and mix. Please feel free to get in touch about sliding scale options; it is something I am open to discussing.
