About My Clients
My expertise lies in providing therapy for adults, couples, families, and pre-teens grappling with emotions such as rejection, grief, and anxiety, while also addressing the delicate balance of family and work-life stressors. I particularly value engaging with the adult male perspective within relationships and family dynamics, recognizing the importance of understanding and addressing the unique experiences and challenges that arise.
My Background and Approach
I am a Ph.D. - Diplomate in Clinical Social Work from the University of Houston and Governors State University. Prior to becoming a therapist, I worked eight years as a Core Faculty Member at Capella University teaching doctoral and graduate learners in the College of Social Work and Public Safety Leadership. Outside of work, I enjoy traveling to Barbados, Caribbean, Houston Rodeo, Chicago summers and active in the KAY fraternity, and is an Astros and Cubs fan. Let me bottom line this -Mental Health Is Essential! As Maya Angelou has posited accurately, If I am not good to myself, how can I expect anyone else to be good to me? Engaging in therapy shifts our values to have empathy for self and others in making desirable life changes. Learning ways to bridge the gap in communication styles between men and women, parents and children, is important work!
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
At the core of my therapeutic approach is a profound belief in respecting and valuing the dignity of every individual I have the privilege to work with. This foundation underscores my commitment to creating a therapeutic environment that fosters respect, appreciation, and understanding, ensuring that each person feels heard, acknowledged, and honored in their unique journey towards well-being.
