I have been working with teens in various roles in nonprofits and youth serving organizations for over a decade and have been working with teens as a primary population in my practice for the past four years. I have specialized experience working with gifted and talented teens as a distinct population, but am open to seeing all clients 12+.

I earned my MDiv from Brite Divinity School at TCU and have a background in parish ministry and chaplaincy. I do not practice from a specific religious setting but am very open to working on issues related to religion and spirituality. Regardless of your background or faith tradition, my goal is to help you connect with your spirituality in a way that works for you.

I took additional coursework both in my MDiv and MS in counseling in gender and sexuality, and bring that knowledge and background to my work with LGBTQ+ clients. As a queer therapist, I also bring my own experiences to the room, not as an equivalent, but as a potential point of resonance and understanding. I am poly and kink friendly and comfortable working with a wide variety of sexuality and gender related content.

I believe you are the expert on yourself, including your cultural background. I strive to be educated and also not to make assumptions in working with individuals regardless of race, ethnicity, nationality, gender, sexuality, ability, age, or any of a variety of other factors that make up our complex identities. I strive to be sensitive to cultural influences in working with clients and to resist one size fits all therapeutic approaches.

I believe that contending with unavoidable life circumstances is an important part of many issues that arise in therapeutic relationships. Classically these include death, isolation, meaning, and freedom. I add to this list the ways in which society may interact with us based on our identities which are out of our capacity to control, such as racism and sexism. I believe creating meaning from these experiences is vital to overall wellbeing, and I strive to work with clients towards this goal.

I believe in the centrality of the relationship in my counseling approach and strive to treat everyone fairly and equally, holding unconditional positive regard with clients to the best of my ability, and providing a space in which clients can safely explore and grow. I believe it is not my role to project any certain set of beliefs or standards onto you as an individual but rather to help you uncover the best within yourself, however you may define that.
