About My Clients
I work with teens and adults navigating trauma, identity, emotional regulation, and the patterns rooted in early family dynamics. Many clients are first- or second- generation Latinx individuals balancing cultural identity, family expectations, and personal growth. Whether you prefer Spanish, English, or moving between both, you'll have a therapist who understands the language and lived experience. I welcome neurodivergent clients and create space where you can show up as you are.
My Background and Approach
I'm Eden Borunda, LMSW, a bilingual therapist at Rise Above Therapy in Albuquerque. I work with teens and adults in both English and Spanish, supervised by Breeann Rocha, LCSW. I primarily work from an Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) framework and integrate narrative therapy, family-of-origin work, attachment- based, somatic, and sand tray therapy. My approach is trauma-informed, collaborative, and strengths-based — supporting you in exploring the stories you carry about yourself and your relationships, while understanding how early experiences shape present patterns. With a background in community mental health, I welcome neurodivergent clients with collaborative care that honors your unique wiring. Beyond my own caseload, Rise Above Therapy is a group practice offering EMDR, DBT, couples counseling, and LGBTQIA+ affirming services. We accept Blue Cross Blue Shield, Presbyterian, and UnitedHealthcare. Programa una consulta gratuita / Schedule a free consultati
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Como terapeuta bilingüe, creo profundamente que tener acceso a apoyo en tu idioma materno puede transformar el proceso de sanar. As a bilingual therapist, I deeply believe that accessing support in your native language can transform the healing process. So much of what we carry — emotion, memory, identity — lives in the language we grew up with. I'm committed to making therapy accessible and affirming for the Latinx and Spanish-speaking communities in New Mexico, and to creating space where neurodivergent clients are honored for who they are, not asked to mask. I believe therapy should reflect the full complexity of who we are: our cultures, families, generational experiences, identities, and dreams. Rise Above Therapy is a practice that prioritizes inclusive, accessible care — we work with most major insurance plans and our team includes therapists with diverse specialties to better serve Albuquerque's community.
