About My Clients
Despite common misconception, addicts are not “bums”, “reprobates”, and “depraved” individuals. Most often, they are wonderfully gifted, extremely intelligent, caring, and compassionate people who have tragically found themselves “stuck” in a lifestyle that robs them and their loved ones of the joy, peace, goodness, health, and a future for which they inwardly long.
My Background and Approach
I utilize contemporary counseling modalities such as CBT, REBT, Person Centered Therapy, Existential Therapy, and Motivational Interviewing in counseling sessions. I also offer Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) to assist with PTSD and Unresolved Trauma which may be at the core of one's addiction. I will meet you where you are! I completed my undergraduate studies at Grace Bible College in Grand Rapids, MI and earned a Bachelor’s of Theology (BTh) Degree in Pastoral Ministry. I completed my graduate studies at Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, AZ and earned a Master’s of Science (MS) Degree in Addiction Counseling. I have been trained in Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART) and am a Certified BASIC ART Practitioner. I am licensed by the Arizona Board of Behavioral Health Examiners as a Licensed Independent Addiction Counselor (LIAC-15091).
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I operate from a Biblical Christian worldview although it is not necessary that my clients share my beliefs. I believe my clients want to get better but have not yet figured out how. I believe healing is possible and I believe that at the end of one's addiction lies a better life of meaning, purpose, and gratitude. I do not believe you have to figure this out by yourself. I am at your service!
