Stress Model therapy for adults, couples, families & kids—stop the cycle, reset the system, build a calmer home.

Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in Sierra Vista, AZ

About My Clients

I work with high-responsibility adults, couples, kids, and families who feel stuck in repeating stress cycles—overdrive (anger/urgency/control) or shutdown (withdrawal/avoidance/numbness). Many are navigating leadership pressure, military life, trauma impacts, parenting conflict, or chronic anxiety. My focus is regulation first, then practical structure and connection so the home runs on values, not survival mode.

My Background and Approach

I’m Dwayne Kruse, MA, LMFT. My work is grounded in a Stress Model and family-systems lens: when stress builds, even good people can slip into survival responses—overdrive (push, control, anger, urgency) or shutdown (withdraw, avoid, go numb). I help clients slow that cycle down, understand what’s happening underneath it, and restore regulation so connection can come back online. My approach is supportive, practical, and structured, with a steady focus on safety, repair, and forward movement. With adults and couples, we work to reduce conflict loops, defensiveness, and emotional distance by strengthening regulation-first tools and clear, respectful communication. With kids and families, we emphasize co-regulation, predictable routines, and aligned parenting so the home feels calmer and behavior improves without constant power struggles. Many clients start with a focused short-term reset (often about five sessions) and then decide together whether to continue for maintenance or deeper he

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe people do best when they feel safe, respected, and accountable. I’m practical and relationship-focused, and I care most about helping people build a calmer home and a healthier life—not winning arguments or pushing an agenda. I welcome clients from different backgrounds, cultures, and identities, and I work hard to create a space where you can be honest without being judged. You don’t have to share my worldview; our work stays centered on reducing stress, improving connection, and building structure that holds up in real life. I value family stability, personal responsibility, compassion, and clear boundaries. I also aim to keep politics out of the therapy room and focus on what helps you and your family function better. If spirituality or faith matters to you, I can incorporate it at your pace—if not, we keep things grounded and practical.
