About My Clients
As people we operate in cycles and patterns; once we identify what they are, we can discover what is keeping us in them. Do you know what is keeping you in yours? With a focus in working with couples and clients navigating sexual issues, my mission is to help clients find the language to express themselves. When working with partnerships or individuals, my utilization of narrative therapy helps clients to witness the power of vulnerability and how it changes the way people experience each other.
My Background and Approach
As a registered mental health counselor intern and systemic thinker, I seek to examine what stands between my couples and individual clients of a second order change (which includes the spoken and unspoken rules we find ourselves living by). I earned my Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Florida Gulf Coast University with a focus in couples and relational work and went on to continue my passionate work at Florida State University in their Marriage and Family Therapy PhD program. In Marriage and Family Therapy, we know couples and the relationships around us as a "system". It is my goal to challenge the "system" to see how we can help the system itself move forward. With a direct, yet empathetic approach, I implore the interventions of Narrative Therapy, to examine the stories we live in and help you determine when it is time to move to the next chapter or reauthor a brand new story. I have worked with couples navigating separation, infidelity and parenthood.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that therapy is for everyone. It does not matter to me your race, religion, sexual orientation or identity, there is a space for you in the therapeutic space I create and foster. I have found in life that people will accept you to the extent in which they accept themselves. Many couples can feel apprehensive about couple's counseling because of fear of judgement of their relationship. And my goal is to help you and your partner hear each other out while working through things together.
