About My Clients
Sometime life provides us unexpected (or even unwanted) challenges that are much easier to successfully navigate with help and support. Common challenges I help clients with range from handling depression and anxiety, low self-esteem or negative self-talk, finding your identity (gender, sexual or otherwise) and overcoming past hardships to help you live authentically.
My Background and Approach
I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor since 2009 and have primarily focused on supporting the LGBTQIA+ community, but you don't have to fit into one of those letters to feel comfortable working with me. I aim to be open and unconditionally accepting of all varieties of people which is reflected in my "Come as you are and as WHO you are" attitude. My counseling style is informal and easygoing (maybe crack a few jokes here and there?), but still keeping us focused on helping you achieve the goals and outcomes you have for yourself. My clinical approach is informed by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Solution Focused Therapy meaning we may spend time investigating the thoughts and core beliefs you may have that are influencing your emotions and behaviors. I also value having a plan for how we handle our challenges going forward taking a 'what now' approach.
