About My Clients
My clients come from many walks of life and with a variety of goals, sometimes not certain of what exactly it is that they wish would be different in their life. I work with clients of age 6 and above. Some are going through an acute crisis and at the other end of the spectrum are clients trying to self-actualize and focused on making a life they are quite happy with even more zestful. I've been fortunate to have worked with a wide diversity of people. It is an honor to work with you.
My Background and Approach
I am board certified: *CERTIFIED COUNSELOR *CERTIFIED CLINICAL MENTAL HEALTH COUNSELOR. Licensed Professional Counselor and Licensed Professional Supervision of Counselors who are Interns. A member of Mensa, https://www.mensa.org I focus on your strengths. I greatly dislike the term "____ needs counseling." It implies pathology and can be demeaning and stigmatizing. A graduate professor for 7 years, I also was the director of a ten room graduate school counseling clinic and the clinical coordinator of our graduate program. I'm a published researcher in professional peer-reviewed journals, have presented at national, regional, state, and local associations. I have over 21 years of fully licensed experience with a wide range of settings including seven months directly treating clients at a psychiatric emergency room (Parkland Hospital, Dallas, TX). Most importantly in my opinion, I strive to be humble, honest, practical, encouraging, challenging, compassionate, and accepting.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I spent 7 months volunteering at a psychiatric emergency room connecting with many beautiful souls who had within minutes or hours attempted to end their own lives. It was a humbling experience to share their experience and I feel blessed and honored for the opportunity. I can hardly write about supporting a diversity of clients - isn't it obvious that we are all totally equal and valuable?
