About My Clients

Currently, I am serving as the lead clinician for patients with bipolar disorder, depression, stress related issues, and anxiety at the Behavioral Health Outpatient Center at Mount Sinai Medical Center. Under the umbrella of systemic theories and a relational mindset, I continue to educate, guide, and utilize mindfulness-based interventions in group therapy at MSMC and with my private clients who seek my expertise in couples, individual, and family therapy with a mindfulness-based approach.

My Background and Approach

My education encompasses a broad approach to better understanding the psyche, psychology, systemic thinking, and communication. I hold a B.S., in Radio Television and Film from The University of Texas at Austin, a M.A. in Counseling Psychology from Pacifica Graduate Institute, and a Ph.D. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Nova Southeastern University. By bridging my expertise in systemic thinking, mindfulness, and wellness; I guide clients in exploring new perspectives, develop a healthy relationship to self and others, and discover a mindful approach towards internal self-talk and communication in relationships. My theoretical approach also embraces dialectical informed behavior therapy, cognitive behavior, Jungian analysis, narrative therapy, and integrative therapies to help foster psychological flexibility and creative exploration of the mind.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Awareness is the prerequisite for change and growth. Through therapy and mindfulness-based interventions, I aim to help clients discover their optimal potential, embrace the wise mind, and better manage symptoms with effective evidenced-based coping skills . We can't get "rid" of symptoms, however, we can learn to better manage them. This is achieved through shifting how we relate to life stressors from avoidance to mindful acceptance. Through learning more about how different parts of our brain function, i.e., survival brain, emotion brain , and smart brain and practicing mindfulness skills such as observing, describing, mindful breathing, and attentional control, we can develop a relationship with our symptoms based on integrative awareness and active acceptance. The key to this learning and therapeutic approach is practice. The quality of your life is a reflection of what you pay attention to and the practice that follows.
