About My Clients
I aspire to be a safe space to help you navigate life difficulties. I am trained in EMDR and trauma informed care. You'll likely experience me as honest, authentic, warm, respectful, and informed. I provide additional educational and cognitive behavioral materials when beneficial.
My Background and Approach
I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor in Florida, and a Licensed Professional Counselor in New Mexico. I received my doctoral degree in Counselor Education from the University of Central Florida, a top ten nationally ranked program. My clinical experience was gained working with those navigating eating disorders and substance use concerns, as well as many trauma survivors. Over the years in practice, I found severe emotional trauma occurs if trauma is long-standing, repeated, or targets an individual’s self-worth. Self-compassion is the ability to forgo self-blame in order to forgive oneself for imperfections, as well as natural and honest reactions to traumatic events. Self-compassion has been shown to decrease mental health symptoms (e.g., anxiety, depression, shame) related to trauma, and increase positive psychological traits (happiness, joy). I utilize this approach alongside existential questions related to substance use, career choice, family issues, self-worth, and trauma.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I have lived in several different states, and have traveled internationally. I believe in cultivating a safe and healing space for all of those that walk into my practice. I am laid back, with a beach feel to my office. I invite you to come and relax as you enter your healing journey.
