About My Clients
My patients are straight, gay, monogamous, polyamorous, from every cultural and ethnic background, and they confront struggles extending from communication issues, infidelity, and sex addiction, to professional anxieties or counseling children through difficult change. For 25 years I’ve helped thousands of people overcome a wide variety of relationship tests and upheavals.
My Background and Approach
I’m originally from New York and did my undergraduate work at Cornell University. I received my Master’s Degree at Antioch University, and went on to earn a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at Ryokan College. My private practice has always been the center of my work. Beyond that, I’ve taught parenting at Santa Monica College for ten years, gave psychological advice for five years as co-host of a morning drive-time radio show in Southern California, and I’ve been featured on national, local, and cable television programs. Prior to psychotherapy, my profession was as a television news anchor in major markets like New York, Philadelphia, Miami, and Los Angeles. As an on-camera reporter for fifteen years, I gained insight into the special demands confronting people in the media and in creative fields.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Because you are an individual, I tailor my therapeutic approach to your particular case. I come from a psychodynamic perspective. I’m a practitioner in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Mindfulness techniques, as well as in hypnotherapy. I’ve done extensive counseling in problem areas like marital conflict, drug addiction, sexual obsession, issues of infidelity and trust, phobias, and the special stresses of money and children. I work with patients both in my Santa Monica office and remotely via Skype or phone. I will listen to your story, but I will also challenge you. I offer empathy, humor, guidance, and solutions.
