About My Clients
Many of the clients I work with are looking for a space to process symptoms related to anxiety, OCD, depression, relationship issues, and body image/eating concerns. I work to help my clients identify what may have happened in their past that has impacted the way they feel today, and to build skills to live a more fulfilling life now. I acknowledge that therapy is an incredibly vulnerable experience, and work at the pace my clients feel most comfortable at.
My Background and Approach
In our first few sessions we will discuss your concerns and sources of distress, and then collaboratively create a plan for addressing them. Many of my clients report symptom relief in the first month, and sustained relief over time. My therapeutic approach is collaborative, warm, and relational. I strive to bring my whole self into every session and strongly believe that therapy is not a "one size fits all" scenario. I have training in CBT and DBT, but use these skills in a relational and collaborative way.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
As people we are a product multiple identities, and I seek to take each of my client's identities into consideration when designing and implementing treatment techniques. As a white, cisgender therapist I am aware of the privileges these identities provide me. With that, I am LGBTQ+ and kink/poly affirming and regularly engage in continued education on working with BIPOC clients.
