About My Clients
I am a “Lovologist,” meaning I specialize in the study of love and its application to human bonding. My specialty is in fanning the fire of love back into relationships and healing old wounds for couples in distress in order to watch them thrive again. Couples with children who want to feel connected to their partner again and want to better their communication are a great fit. My clients also come in with ADHD, infertility, trauma, parenting stress, and I love helping to support them as a team.
My Background and Approach
I am a bilingual (Spanish-English) licensed clinical psychologist with a deeply rooted passion for psychology and helping others. I earned my doctorate (Psy.D.) in Clinical Psychology with an extra emphasis in multicultural studies from the California School of Professional Psychology (CSPP). I completed my Pre-Doctoral Internships at both the Student Health & Counseling Center of California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) working with students and at Catholic Charities Diocese of San Diego. I completed my Post-Doctoral Fellowship at The Family Recovery Center, in Oceanside, CA, helping mothers struggling to overcome both Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and a Substance Use Disorder. I offer couples either EFT, Gottman Method therapy, or DSM-T (my original therapy protocol based on my research). I primarily offer individuals CBT, DBT, and ACT treatment. I value evidenced-based therapy work and goal-directed therapy. I take an active approach and do not have clients merely vent.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My personal philosophy is tied to the belief that there is no greater empowerment than self-knowledge and recognition of one’s own values and strengths. My goal is to create a warm and safe therapeutic space for each client or couple to express themselves and work together on finding solutions or new perspectives to improve their enjoyment of life and to reach their goals. Much of my work is to teach psychology to my clients and to provide a trained eye for assessing whatever is bothering them while giving them the tools they might be missing. What sets me apart is my talent in the skill of accurate and appropriate diagnosing, my true use of therapy goals to keep on track, and my active vs. passive therapy approach. I bring a decade of experience and a genuine care to the room when sitting with each and every client.
