About My Clients
I enjoy serving a broad demographic of clients. However, I have found myself being especially attractive to adults ages 25-40, women, and those of African American/Black descent. I also have specialty experience working with veterans, being that I served as a readjustment counselor at the VA for nearly a year.
My Background and Approach
Trained as a systems thinker, I see the world as an interconnected world of individuals and their relationships with each other that are visible through interactions. Within a system, change that occurs in one part reciprocally affects all other parts and is, in turn, affected by those other parts. System thinking in therapy and supervision includes awareness of differences of values, attitudes, and ways of understanding the world and the influence these have in professional work. As a therapist, I view client presenting problems from a contextual curious lens. It is my belief that it is the context in which a person develops that influences psycho-social difficulties or success.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Throughout our life’s journey we all will face difficult moments and/or seasons. In order to grow through these times we must embrace the human species’ primal need for survival: meaningful social engagement. As a psychotherapist, I believe that a safe space for vulnerability, transparency, effective communication, and support are vital for growth and overcoming life’s day to day challenges. I also believe through the gain of guidance, clarity, empowerment, and commitment to change-oriented behaviors, clients can begin to experience the healing they deserve.
